Who: Ashely Bell, a citizen of Indianapolis
What: Police officers stormed her car after they reportedly smelled raw marijuana
Where: Indianapolis
When: July 28, 2014
Why: Ashley Bell stated that she believed that when the police stormed her house, that it was an infringement of her rights granted her by the Bill of Rights. A judge cleared the problem stating that it was not. The Court of Appeals agreed with Bell that the officer had no right to assume Bell was armed and dangerous and therefore had no right to handcuff her and pat her down. She was chared regardless of possession of marijuana.
